Sports Medicine

Sports rehabilitation therapists are highly-specialized physical therapists equipped to treat an athlete’s unique needs. Creativity is key when designing functional rehabilitation programs to include sport specific movements, or strategies to limit pain to stay in the game. A sports physical therapist’s understanding of the physical demands of each sport allows for better customization of treatment programs to help get back on the field and prevent further injuries.

RVNAhealth offers sports rehabilitation therapy at the RVNAhealth Rehabilitation & Wellness Center in Ridgefield, CT

What Does a Sports Therapist Do?

Sports therapists use the same evaluation techniques but understand the physical demands of sports and can creatively design a program to not just quit the sport while an injury heals. Then this specialist is able to rehabilitate back to normal life AND sport life! They may use more adjunct treatments to protect an injury while healing but would allow play, like athletic taping or KT tape.
