Balance and Falls Prevention

A fall can be dangerous at any age and balance issues are often an underlying root cause.  Deficiencies in balance can be addressed through the guidance of a therapist and customized balance exercise programs.  Programs such as the Otago Program—a proven fall prevention program—work to improve strength and balance and reduce the risk of falls and related injuries.

RVNAhealth offers balance assessments and balance physical therapy programs in patients’ homes and at the RVNAhealth Rehabilitation & Wellness Center in Ridgefield, CT.

What Type of Therapist Would I Work With?

Physical and occupational therapists are both trained and available to assess balance using evidence-based tests.  The therapist’s goal is to explain root causes of balance issues and create programs to address muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and reaction time.
