Vestibular Therapy

The vestibular system is highly intricate and complicated, involving the body, the brain and the inner ear. Skilled physical therapists use Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) to thoroughly evaluate symptoms such as dizziness, spinning, vertigo, feeling off balance, hearing loss, and difficulty focusing, and their cause. The evaluation determines a customized program of exercise to improve a patient’s specific symptoms.

RVNAhealth offers vestibular therapy in patients’ homes and at the RVNAhealth Rehabilitation & Wellness Center in Ridgefield, CT.

What Does a Vestibular Therapist Do?

RVNAhealth vestibular therapists will evaluate symptoms through head, eye and body movements and then design a treatment that may include techniques such as balance exercises, standing on soft surfaces, turning the head and body laying down or while standing and walking.

Our Approach

RVNAhealth offers vestibular therapy in-home through our home health services, or outpatient at our Rehabilitation & Wellness Center in Ridgefield. RVNAhealth physical therapists combine their core knowledge with specialized vestibular training. This knowledge allows us to consider the body as a whole and provide a patient-centered approach to meeting your goals. Treatment plans are customized to each patient’s particular situation.

Vestibular therapy in the home may be accessed through a physician referral.  Outside the home, at our Rehabilitation & Wellness Center, therapy may be obtained with a physician referral or through Direct Access, without a physician’s referral.
