Community Food Drive in Progress!

This summer, RVNAhealth is partnering with the Danbury Health Department to ensure the COVID-19 vaccine reaches underserved communities where obstacles, such as time, transportation, information, and access, are preventing people from getting vaccinated.

As part of this public health initiative, RVNAhealth will also be bringing a “travelling food pantry” into these communities to help neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity. After receiving their vaccine, community members will have the opportunity to “shop” in the food pantry and bring nonperishable items home to share with their families.

RVNAhealth is kindly suggesting the following items:

  • Pasta, Rice, Cereal, Oatmeal, Macaroni & Cheese
  • Protein, Granola, and Snack Bars
  • Nut Products | Peanut Butter, Almond Butter, Tahini, Whole Nuts
  • Dried or Dehydrated Fruit | Apricots, Dates, Figs, Prunes, Raisins
  • Nutritional Supplements | Ensure, Glucerna, Boost, Protein Shakes
  • Canned & Jarred Products | Vegetables, Soups, Beans, Tuna Fish, Jelly
  • Kid-Friendly, Healthy Snacks | No Sugar Added Applesauce & Fruit Cups, Pretzels, Popcorn, Goldfish Crackers

The community food drive kicks-off on Wednesday, May 26th and will run through Monday, June 7. Items may be dropped off in marked boxes at RVNAhealth, Ridgefield Parks & Recreational Center, Ridgebury Congregational Church, and Scotland Elementary School.
