The “Meet the Experts” panel aims to provide an informal and enriching platform for participants to engage with various experts in the field of Parkinson’s Disease. The format of the panel is designed as an “Ask Me Anything” session, allowing attendees to pose questions and seek insights directly from leading experts.

Panelists:

Dr. Leon Meytin will join RVNAhealth as a Parkinson's Disease panel expert
Dr. Leon Meytin

Dr. Leon Meytin, MD is a Board Certified Neurologist, and fellowship trained Movement Disorder specialist at Hartford Healthcare, currently practicing in Bridgeport, CT. He graduated from West Virginia University, School of Medicine. Dr. Meytin then completed his neurology residency at Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania followed by a movement disorders fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York, NY. Since 2020, Dr. Meytin, has been with Hartford Healthcare’s Chase Family Movement Disorders Center developing the movement disorders program in the Fairfield region. Dr. Meytin sees patients from all over Connecticut, as well as neighboring states of New Jersey and New York. Dr. Meytin has expertise in Parkinson’s disease, Lewy Body Dementia, atypical Parkinson’s, Cervical dystonia, essential tremor, ataxia, Huntington’s disease, tardive dyskinesia, drug induced movement disorders, Deep Brain Stimulation and the use of botulinum toxin for cervical dystonia, limb dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and Movement Disorder Society.

 

Dr. Rodrigues will join RVNAhealth as a Parkinson's Disease panel expert
Dr. Bernardo Rodrigues

Dr. Bernardo Rodrigues is a neurologist who subspecilaizes in movement disorders. He received his medical degree from the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil, where he also completed his Ph.D. in neurosciences. He worked in Brazil in the field of movement disorders and his Ph.D. thesis was on the study of swallowing in Parkinson’s disease. After he moved to the U.S., he completed neurology residency at UConn Health and proceeded to fellowship training in movement disorders at the University of Michigan. He sees all patients with involuntary movements and offers injection of botulinum toxin and programming of deep brain stimulation.

 

 

 

Dr. Zion Z

Dr. Zion Zibly is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Yale School of Medicine. He is the Director for the Center of Neuromodulation, Director of the Center of Neurosurgical Cancer Pain, Head of Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery, and Head of the Focused Ultrasound Institute. Zibly was the leader, the first and only Neurosurgeon to perform surgeries with gene therapy for pediatric genetic neuro degenerative disorders. He is an MD graduate of the Technion’s Faculty of Medicine in Haifa, Israel, and a renowned specialist in neurosurgery. Dr. Zibly specializes in the implantation of electrostimulators for patients with essential tremor, Parkinson’s and dystonia (deep brain stimulation), surgical treatment of neurological pain, and oncological neurosurgery: treatment of brain and spinal cord benign and malignant tumors.
