Helping You Meet The Dementia Challenge & Lunch – Redding – FREE

September 13 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Alzheimer's and Dementia Support

Caring for someone suffering from memory loss? Interested in learning more about the condition? Join Mark Twain Library for a light luncheon and lecture focusing on the causes and symptoms of dementia and learn strategies to better cope with the challenge.

During the luncheon, MTL Librarian Kathryn Zimmerman will report on a recent $10,000 grant awarded to the Mark Twain Library from the American Library Association/Libraries Transforming Communities. This grant will allow the Library to purchase items to create Activity Kits that promote brain health for people who are living with dementia.

Mark Twain Library is seeking input from the Redding community about items and themes that might be useful in creating unique kits that help those dealing with the challenges of dementia.

Following the luncheon, two aging experts from RVNAhealth will deliver a comprehensive talk on dementia. Director of Rehabilitation Gigi Weiss and StayingWell’s Homehealth Aide Supervisor Danielle Talibi will explain how to recognize the symptoms and stages of the condition, and discuss coping techniques that can be implemented during the early stages. The team will also discuss how to recognize when professional assistance and intervention may be necessary, along with strategies to make challenges and transitions more manageable.

This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in collaboration with the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL)

Space is limited. Register HERE to attend.
