Kaye Hale, MD

Hospice Associate Medical Director

As associate medical director at RVNAhealth Hospice Services, Dr. Kaye Hale develops and evaluates each hospice patient’s plan of care.

Kaye brings lengthy experience in critical care medicine, combined with a dedication to caring for both patients and their families, particularly when it comes to making difficult end of life decisions. Her career as a practicing intensive care physician has included 10 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, as well as two and a half years at NewYork Presbyterian - Lawrence Hospital. She looks forward to applying the collaborative approach required in those settings to her new role.

“In the ICU, you are very much a part of a team,” she says. “Likewise, at RVNAhealth Hospice we have a great team that provides end-of-life care in a home hospice setting.”

Kaye is a familiar face at RVNAhealth, as she previously assisted the agency as a volunteer, helping draft our hospice ethics policy. “It’s been exciting to see the Hospice team continuing to grow, with additional nurses and specialists being brought on regularly,” she says. “These are vital additions, given the growing number of patients we are caring for.”

Residents of Ridgefield since 2016, Kaye and her husband and two children are Manhattan transplants. “We moved here because we wanted to live in a warm and welcoming community” she explains. Of her “outdoorsy” family, she says, “We enjoy camping and have recently discovered RVing.” Locally, other favorite activities include skiing, golf and paddle tennis. (Strong emphasis on the latter!)

Kaye holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from State University of New York at Brooklyn. She earned her Master of Science in genetics from University of Connecticut, a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Niagara University, and a Certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from Einstein-Cordozo. She is a member and Fellow of the American Academy of Chest Physicians, and member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Looking ahead, Kaye anticipates growth and evolution for the RVNAhealth Hospice team. “I envision RVNAhealth becoming a leader in the field of top-notch home hospice delivery,” she says. “Using the strong foundation and stellar reputation RVNAhealth has built within our community, word of RVNAhealth Hospice will spread, allowing us to provide compassionate and skilled end-of-life care to the many communities we serve.”
