John Apinis, RN, BSN
Director of Nursing Practice
As director of nursing practice, John Apinis, RN, BSN, oversees RVNAhealth’s nursing team. His role includes educating the team on best practices specific to patient care and outcomes.
“Our No. 1 responsibility is ensuring that patients get well, and don’t need to stay in the hospital,” he says. “If they need to be hospitalized, we focus on shortening the duration they spend in the hospital – thereby, improving their outcomes.”
John joined our agency in 2017, after working as an RN case manager at Western Connecticut Health Network and at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, where he cared primarily for Vietnam and Korean War veterans. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Fairfield University, and a member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOC).
A resident of Ridgefield, where he lives with his wife (also a nurse!) and three sporty children, John can be found in his spare time cheering on his kids in soccer, tennis and lacrosse (and for the latter sport, traveling coast to coast for their tournaments).
