Laura Shulman Cordeira, MPH

Director of Community Health and Wellness

Laura Shulman Cordeira, MPH, is the Director of Community Health and Wellness at RVNAhealth, managing BeWELL, the arm of the organization that promotes health and quality of life at every age. BeWELL is composed of three segments: Wellness, which includes immunizations, health and community education and child-focused healthcare; the Nurse-Family Partnership, a program funded by Connecticut’s Office of Early Childhood that partners low-income, first-time mothers with a dedicated nurse until their child reaches age two; and a Chronic Care Health at Home program, which provides direct client care to patients in their homes with the goal to keep them healthy and keep their diseases well managed.

Before joining RVNAhealth in 2020, Laura devoted her career to promoting others’ health and well-being by designing, evaluating, and overseeing community-based programing.

Her diverse expertise encompasses the full spectrum of healthcare from directing international research studies, creating mental health webinars, managing a large team of volunteers, simplifying complex health information and utilizing storytelling to improve health outcomes. In her current role, Laura also oversees the development, growth, and implementation of an unprecedented COVID-19 vaccination program in the region.

Laura earned her BA at State University of New York, Albany, and her MPH at Columbia University School of Public Health. Her research has been published in the scientific journals Health Education Research and Tobacco Control. A lifelong “giver,” she proudly serves on the board of the Charlotte Helen Bacon Foundation. Laura resides in Bethel with her family and enjoys reading, traveling, and hiking. She will hike almost any trail if there is a promise of ice cream afterwards.
