Ridgefield Thrift Shop Grant Supports RVNAhealth Hospice Services

We are thrilled to share that the Ridgefield Thrift Shop has once again honored us and shown its incredible generosity by awarding RVNAhealth a grant in support of the Ridgefield Thrift Shop Hospice Fund. This vital fund helps sustain the compassionate care provided through our hospice program.

Thrift Shop volunteers, Shirley Van Dam and Vicki Mueller, presented the grant check to MJ Heller, RVNAhealth Director of Philanthropy, and Kim Mellin, RVNAhealth Grant Writer, during the Thrift Shop’s annual grant award reception.

Established in 2019, the Ridgefield Thrift Shop Hospice Fund helps cover critical, often unreimbursed services provided by RVNAhealth’s hospice program. These include bereavement support for families, music and pet therapies, fulfillment of end-of-life wishes, and our cherished annual memorial service.

Thanks to continued support like this, our hospice program has grown significantly since its inception in 2018. We now care for more than 485 patients and families each year across private homes, assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals. In addition, our incredible hospice volunteers contributed over 1,975 hours of companionship and support last year alone.

Our deep relationship with the Ridgefield Thrift Shop dates back to 1937, when the shop was first established to fund what was then the District Nursing Association—today, RVNAhealth.

“We are so thankful for this continued partnership,” says MJ Heller, Director of Philanthropy. “This grant ensures our patients and their families receive the full care and support they need during such a sensitive time. It’s truly a gift to have community partners who bring our mission to life.”
