Volunteer Office Assistant

Office/Administrative Support

Administrative Support Volunteers are the valuable everyday heroes who support the daily operation of RVNAhealth. Assist with light office tasks like phone calls, filing, assembling materials, and other administrative needs. This vital work supports all that we do, and these volunteer opportunities are ideal for those not interested in patient contact. These opportunities exist in RVNAhealth ComfortWELL Hospice Services and our complete WELLness community.

Rousseline

Rousseline

Hometown: Stamford, CT

Above and Beyond Nomination: “Rousseline is a live-in caregiver for one of our dementia clients. At first, the client was reluctant to have a caregiver in her home — even for the fewest number of hours that we provide. However, Rousseline, with her calm approach, got to know her client and is now there 24 hours/7 days per week. Rousseline is always so gentle, patient and caring with everyone she encounters and is always happy to go above and beyond to make others happy. One thing that always comes to mind when thinking about Rousseline is: If Rousseline can’t make it work, no one can!” – Dilcy, RVNAhealth staff

Elta

Elta

Hometown: Norwalk, CT

Above and Beyond Nomination: “Instead of leaving when her shift ended this morning, Elta stayed late to help me with our patient. He can get very agitated and we needed to wash and change him. Considering his current circumstances, Elta knew it would be easier if we washed him together, so she stayed and we did it together. Elta is caring and gentle and always very informative. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have had to work with her.” – Kristy, fellow caregiver

Above and Beyond Nomination: “[My husband] needed a great deal of help when he returned home from the hospital. Now he is getting a little stronger but still needs help in basic things. Thank you RVNAhealth for Sandy. My husband likes her and she is so pleasant and helpful. Sandy has a very nice manner and is also a very caring person.” – Connie, Bethel

Icilda

Icilda

Hometown: Waterbury, CT

Above and Beyond Nomination: “Icy has happily been with my Mom for 14 months now. She quickly became one with our family. Bringing her wisdom and expertise, Icy rapidly understood my Mom’s personality and adapted to make her comfortable, which is not always easy to do!!! Icy gives the highest level of care to my mother to keep her safe, while at the same time allowing her the maximum amount of independence. Simply said, we admire Icy’s skills, we love her, and we thank her each and everyday.” – Priscilla, Ridgefield, CT

Why did you become a caregiver? I became a caregiver because I want to do what I can to ease other people’s pain, and to show them that they are loved and valued no matter what…

Above and Beyond Nomination: “Kristy had been working with a client who was placed on hospice during her time with him. She was working 4 hours a day for 5 days a week for quite a while, until he started to require 24-hour care. Kristy reworked her personal schedule so that she could work extra hours and extra days with her client who was in his last stages of life because the family preferred her to be there. She created an exceptional bond with the client and his wife, that allowed him to be comfortable up until the end.” – RVNAhealth staff, Danielle

About yourself: I have been a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) since 2011.

Why and when did you choose your profession? Since I was 10 years old, I told my parents I wanted to be a nurse. Growing up, all my teachers always said, “Mimi, you’re going to be a beautiful nurse,” because of the way I behaved and helped people around me. So I traveled to the USA and started working.

I took the CNA class so I can be part of healthcare because I love helping people that can’t help themselves.
